Principal Software Engineer
Chris Loper is a Principal Software Engineer with 25 years of experience across software architecture, distributed systems, search, data platforms, and modern application development. His career spans multiple generations of software development, from early systems work in C and C++ to modern backend, web, and mobile development with Go, TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Elixir, Node.js, React, React Native, and Vue. This breadth gives him a pragmatic, technology-agnostic approach to engineering and architecture.
He has extensive experience designing service-oriented and event-driven architectures, microservices, high-volume APIs, and data aggregation and processing pipelines using technologies such as Kafka and cloud-based pub/sub. His data experience spans relational, time-series, and NoSQL datastores, supporting applications ranging from large-scale web scraping and aggregation to analytics, telemetry, and customer data platforms. He also has deep experience with Elasticsearch and building AI-powered capabilities into production applications and workflows.
His broader technical experience includes AWS, Docker, CI/CD and DevOps practices, with hands-on experience using Kubernetes and Terraform. As an engineering leader and architect, he has led teams, mentored engineers, established technical standards, and worked extensively with product and business stakeholders.
